Young Celebs: Marriage a trend?

So recently i heard about Miley Cyrus's engagement, apparently it's quite a big news- it's on yahoo, magazines, forums..... Which brings me to this question: Why are people getting married so early?
Don't forget Miley is just 19 and there's plenty more of young celebs who are married and engage or pregnant e.g Hilary Duff, Macaulay Culkin, Avril Lavigne, Jessica Simpson, Britney Spears etc
My point is here, are these people really ready for marriage? They think it's easy to maintain it and look what happened? except Hilary Duff the rest all got divorced. Sure, it's easy getting into a marriage AND a divorce in Hollywood especially if you're a celeb and you're loaded.
I think because of these people, the word marriage isn't significant anymore. It's no longer the beautiful thing that means spending a lifetime with the one you love. Now it just means, dates-to-functions and sex-partners-legally-till-we-get-sick-of-each-other. They think being 19-24 is considered matured adults and they have what it takes to get married. Wrong! Research has already proven while you're biologically capable and physically able to marry, you're brains are still WAY too young for this kind of responsibility. Young celebs nowadays think it's sorta like a trend to get pregnant and married young. Well, it's one of those stupid trends like planking or impractical high heels. They think that they just gotta have it like the latest CD or designer dress. Even if you dress like a matured woman while walking down the red carpet, you're still intellectually childish for marriage which requires a lot of responsibility. And i don't just mean the celebs, i mean the entire human race.
So i am appalled get it? DISGUSTED when their parents are saying things like they're happy for their kids. It's not encouraging them into a happy life, it's more like sending them straight into the depth of an unhappy marriage. While i understand some pregnant teens who had to get married for the sake of their child, they also need to be ready to take up full responsibility as a mother and wife.
I am sceptical that a union between Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus is a good thing. My opinion, it'll turn out to be just like another Kim Kardashian case and i won't be surprise Miley will turn out to be one of those Real Housewives in the future who will be cursing and having cat-fights with other ladies on national TV. Don't forget this is the same girl that sang "Can't be tamed". If Liam thinks he's capable of taming this girl? be my guest. But i would be there to laugh and say :"I told you so" if it turns out just the way i said. Or maybe he's just jealous his brother is happily married to Elsa Pataky and they have a adorable girl and Liam wants to have it too? Well, it's one thing to be married to Elsa Pataky and entirely another thing to be married to Miley Cyrus. One's already old and matured enough to think rationally and the other is too young to think of the future consequences. When the passion and love is gone. you'll expect a split alright. And for someone like Miley, i'd expect her thrill to run out soon. But hey, whatever floats your boat~~
A real genuine question to Liam: Are you sure you wanna do this?

How Not to Get Hired Part 3: Proofread Your Résumé

It pays to proofread your résumé and review your answers on an application blank to correct typographical errors, misspellings, and awkward phrasing. Consider carefully the image your résumé or application presents to a prospective employer. The following items are taken from actual résumés, application forms, and cover letters to employers. Do you think any of these people were hired?
"I received a plague for Salesperson of the Year."
"I'm a rabid typist."
"I have the ability to meet deadlines while maintaining my composer."
"I have excellent eye for derail."
"Please excuse any spelling errors on this résumé since spelling is not my strong suite."
"Objective: To obtain a position that allows me to make use of my commuter skills."
"I have formed a partnership with three business collies."
And to close a cover letter, one job-seeker wrote: "Thank you for your consideration. I hope to hear from you shorty."
To make the best impression, consider a professional résumé writing service such as Pathfinder Writing and Career Services.

How Not to get Hired Part 2 : It's your E-Mail Address, Dude

Are you proud of your e-mail address? Do you think it's clever, funny or offbeat? That it reflects who you are and what and what you're about? Well, potential employers might not agree. They are likely to turn down your applicant, not on the basis of your qualifications but because they were turned off by the way you choose to represent yourself to the big wired world.
Steve Watkins reviewed 300 e-mailed résumé in his search for a network administrator. He was appalled by some of the addressees  and compiled examples for his Web site. he changed the domain names to "domain.com, " to protect the innocent. If you recognize your email address in this list, Watkins said, "we have already filled our position- and it wasn't with you, dude."

How Not to Get Hired, part 1: What NOT to say in your interview

The following activities were reported by managers and executives dealing with job applicants:
  • "One candidate sang all of her responses to the interview questions"
  • "One individual said we had nice benefits, which was good because he was going to need to take a lot of leave the next year."
  • "One person brought his mother to the job interview and let her do all the talking"
  • "A person said he had no relevant experience for the position he was interviewing for, but his friend did."
  • "One job-seeker said he should get the job because he had already applied three times and felt that it was now his turn"
Would you hire any of these people?

Just a little humorous excerpt from my Organisational Psychology textbook and I wanna share it.

Psychology: What it did for me.

My friends have been asking me this question ALL the time, "Why didn't you major in English language instead?". I always have to answer the same thing, "While I do love English, I don't want to  make it a career."
Sometimes I do ask myself why didn't I? I never dreamt of majoring in psychology. I once wanted to be a lawyer, veterinarian, marine biologist and even an actress.
When it was time for me to pick a university to apply, I just picked the one that my friend went to. Courses? I picked psychology cuz the other Arts and Social Science's course doesn't sound promising. When I was accepted by another government university offering computer science, it took me a torturing night of head banging, crying and dice throwing to determine whether i want to accept it.(I was already studying Pre-U at my university that time). At the end i decided to stay. After i made this decision, I asked myself constantly if i made the right choice. By choosing this private University, my parents need to pay more. I hated being me.
Everyone has the perception that someone studying Psychology can read minds. Please, discard the thought. We don't! All we do is observe and observation is a strong factor that helps us understand human behavior. Observation leads psychologist to seek an explanation for the bahavior. I must say it's pretty interesting. I understand much better about society and human behavior. There's so many behaviors that can be explained through studying psychology.
Now, I can confidently say that I have chosen the right path. Majoring in Psychology isn't my mistake and it might be one of the wises choice i have made in life.
Well, studying psychology helped me to understand myself better. I was just sitting down reading my notes for my test when i suddenly got struck by answers of why I act certain ways at times. Yes, psychology does that. I've started keeping tracks of my own behavior, understanding it through terms and theories, realizing my unconscious feelings and analyzing my conscious behavior. A bit fun and freaky but you tend to do that once you study this field. It's so much more easier to understand when you relate the terms to yourself.
Like today, I realise my own desires when reading about Erikson's psychosocial stages. I keep wondering why I do things i don't really know how to explain sometimes, today I finally found my answers.
So yes, in a way i have no regrets majoring in this field. I found myself in the midst of a identity crisis you can say. It certainly helps that things that I do can now be explained. It helps me to find the answers that I'm seeking instead of hunting around, waiting for answers to pop up.
For those having second thoughts about your identity, studying Psychology really is a way to help you find your path.
Yes, studying the terms and understanding the theorist's idea is very complicated and sometimes it will clash with your personal ideas. But no one ask you to change your perspective to be in tune with theirs, everyone is entitled to their thoughts tho it could be wrong. It can be enjoying studying about the terms and it could be tedious but nevertheless, i don't mind a bit. If it's to understand the world a bit better, why not?getting a upper hand on a situation feels much better than being clueless most of the time.
Who knows, one day you'll see someone acting weird. While everyone's figuring out what's the reason the person is acting like that, you'll be grinning at the back, sipping lemonade while others ponder.

Preparing for Mothers day

Help me out here people! Mother's day will be a day after i return for semester break and I'll stop by the capital mall to get something for my mom. BUT here's an issue, what do you get someone who:
-doesn't appreciate fashion and wear anything comfy
-don't wear make up, perfume, jewelry
-don't have time to read but rather watch TV anytime
-doesn't cook
-sweet food is bad for her health
-don't appreciate flowers, aroma therapeutic candles
-has more body/face care products than i can ever imagine
-home deco, paintings, crafts? Meh~ forget about it. She doesn't know what are those.
well, i'm in a dilemma here. Almost everything i can think of is not good for her. I'm gonna give a card with one gift but I can't think of any!!
Can you give me some suggestions? Would appreciate it very very much!!

Quote of the day

"Make up is a woman's war paint. When you head into battle, you must wear it. That way you definitely can't cry. If you do, your make up will run. No matter how little you applied, you will make a fool out of yourself. That's why no matter how hard things get, you should NEVER cry"

Tablo Controversy

What? A face like this can't be smart? Get real people!
I guess if you're fan of Kpop you would know who is Tablo. For those who doesn't, he used to be from the boy band Epik High until he sign contract with YG as a solo singer. He's a pretty talented singer with damn good English. I'm lazy to give you the full details, so if you want to know more, go to this site. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tablo.
Now what i wanna discuss is his recent controversy. So he allegedly earned his Bachelor's and Master's degree from Stanford University only after three and a half years. Sounds quite impossible right? So there has been much of a debate about this case. Of course the paparazzi would LOVE a good story like that. If it was fake, they would manage to flush Tablo's career down the drain. People were sceptical, called him a liar, shamed him bla bla bla~~ y'know how them haters love to do. Some said he paid the lawyers to lie, forged fake documents, stole someone else's identity....  That was a rough time that sent him into hiding, causing even more speculation. Again, what more news? Here's from Soompi- http://www.soompi.com/news/us-it-magazine-wired-reports-tablos-standford-degree-controversy
After much sleuthing and investigating, guess what? It was proven that he indeed rightfully earned his BA and MA at Standford within 3 1/2 years. He was all along being accused of something he didn't do, must have hurt pretty bad. Now that the truth is out, I bet those who once accused him felt uh.. i wonder embarrassed? Finally, Tablo has a reason to say "What does your smart ass got to say about that huh?"
People, before you start making a complete ass of yourself, don't jump into conclusion before you know what's actually going on. Just because he looks dumb doesn't mean he is.
So, congrats to Tablo and to his comeback album.

Be a man or a lady?

Chaz Bono

Thomas Beatie
You see in societies these days, some man doesn't wanna be a man and woman doesn't wanna be a woman. Take a look at that former Miss Hawaii contestant who was dubbed "World First Pregnant Man" few years ago and Chaz Bono son of Cher. About man being woman? You'll see tonnes of it in Thailand. It's kinda weird for me, why defy what you are born as? God made you to be that gender for a reason, I don't get why they should change. I have friends who acts like a man but thankfully, they don't have the intentions of being one.
Sure being a woman is tough. Men, they had it easy. I'll give you some examples,
1. Being a lady boss, if you be a lady (gentle, warm, sweet), your employee's steps all over your head. If you act tough like a man, you're either being called a bitch or "not acting like how a lady should".
2. Don't even get me started with the irritating monthly period and getting pregnant. Wanna know what's really tough? THAT'S TOUGH!
3. Guys still stereotype women to be weak and "Belong in the Kitchen". Hello~~ women nowadays, they're much successful. We women have gone a long way. And the Kitchen stuff? I see more male chef these days than female. 80% of chefs in AFC are men. Hypocrite?
I shall just stop at there. So you see, it IS hard being a woman but that doesn't mean I want to stop being one. I'm proud of my gender and just because I have to put up with a few downfalls of being a woman doesn't mean  I want to be a man. I try getting through my friends head a few good reasons to be happy she's a girl.

  • Fashion!!! We have much MUCH more variety of nice dresses and shoes compared to men.
  • We get to be cute to get out of some situation (i'm just saying) Our gender permits it.
  • We don't really need to do much laboured work (except giving birth tho, that can't be helped) - this is cuz guys feel they always need to be the macho man. Well, we're not stopping them. ;)
So that's a few reason's i gave my friend. If you want to know the other reasons to be a woman, then I'll present to you these few links. They're rather hilarious and a bit "dirty minded" but don't mind that. So yeah, enjoy.

Yup, so yes, be proud if you're a woman!! If you're a man reading this? Well.. lets just say you get some insights of why we love being ladies.

Just Sleep~~

When we were kids, our parents will force us to take naps in the afternoon. We usually hate it, being kids, we want to play and stay as long as possible in the big outdoors. Now all grown up and an adult, we suddenly realize we barely have enough time to sleep. What with all those works we have to do, sleeping is a dream come true (i mean when we're really tired). Like me now is university, I'll appreciate whatever little time i have to sleep. I just wanna crawl up into my bed and sleep like that lazy cat on top.The thing is sleeping is a good thing as shown by research. I myself have other theory about the benefits of sleep. Now, I for one won't believe that sleep can help you lose weight. The only logic in this is because when you sleep, you don't really care to eat. I have a lot of sleep still, i don't see any changes in my weight. :/
For me, sleeping is a therapy. I sleep when I'm frustrated or angry. After waking up, i feel more relaxed & calm to deal with whatever problems i have. Heaps of assignment that once seems impossible may just look possible after a good sleep. Arguing with people? Go have a sleep and you'll see that you won't feel mad at them after that. It helps in maintaining relationship y'know (if you think that way). Even in times of confusion, i sleep. Sometimes you'll find the answer to your confusion miraculously after a good sleep (or maybe you find the answer in your dreams-whichever). Cuz sometimes we over think and make it much complicated than it really is, sleeping kinda straighten things out again (if you know what i mean).  Forgetting things? Simple-sleep and hope that you'll remember. I won't guarantee you that it really works. Just suggesting.
Sleeping is now a much prized thing in my daily life. If I get a totally free weekends, you'll find me in bed till way past noon. And i sleep in as much as i can during weekends. It's a bad habit of students but do you close the alarm when it goes off and go back to sleep even just for a few minutes? I do. Lemme tell you, it feels a lot more better even if its an extra few minutes of sleep.
Tho I must say, it's bad to oversleep and people usually associate frequent sleep as lazy. And sleeping to kill time? Meh, i don't do that often. But i won't say it's ridiculous cuz i do that once in a while.
So if you meet with some of the problems i mention, just sleep! Forget about everything and relax~~~ zzzz
